I think I might be the last “fashion blogger” to buy over the knee (OTK) boots. I’ve been resisting because I didn’t think my mom life intersected with OTK boot life. I’m thinking…am I really going to pick my kids up from school wearing a fierce pair of OTK boots? Umm, probably not. But, then I thought more and said to heck with it. I will make my mom life work with OTK boots! I am woman, see me rock these OTK boots with the coolest turtleneck sweater you’ve ever seen!
But, here’s the deal: you have to style the boots correctly. I prefer to wear them with a more casual top (like my beloved turtleneck sweaters) and jeans, or a sweater dress. I’m steering away from the leather jacket, moto jacket or short skirt because it’s a little too fierce…it’s not me. Here’s the point: there’s a fine line with OTK boots between chic and sex kitten going to the clubs (there’s absolutely nothing wrong with clubbin and looking fierce and sometimes I wish I was 22, clubbin and drinking Cristal, but let’s face it I can’t stay awake past 10pm these days…and, oh wait, I never actually drank Cristal).
So here I am with my mom life, not drinking Cristal, and I’ve found that OTK are a nice addition to my wardrobe, and I think the trend is here to stay. They suit every body silhouette, and they work in my everyday life. Now, would I rather be wearing my converse?…probably. But, sometimes it’s nice to embrace a trend and make it your own. You too can wear OTK boots. Promise.
