When I started this blog, I wrote a post outlining my full morning skincare routine. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth a read because I go into detail about what I’m using and why. But since then, I’ve added a few new products that I’m loving, and I want to share them with you because I think you might love them too.
Belif Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream. I’m going to try to contain my excitement, BUT, no wait, I can’t. It’s just too good…I’ve found my HOLY GRAIL EYE CREAM [screams and cheers of congratulations]. The texture of this cream is velvety and extremely hydrating, but absorbs quickly. The skin around my eyes has never looked better, and my concealer no longer cakes in the fine lines around my eyes the way it used to. I use it morning and night; I previously used a heavier eye cream at night but I found that I’m happy with the hydration level so I no longer need to use two products. In summary, I’ve tried dozens of eye creams, and this one is my favorite by far.
Clarins Multi-Active Night Cream. During the winter, I find that I need a heavier cream at night to combat dry skin. I’ve tried quite a few night creams, and I really like this one by Clarins. It’s hydrating, but not too thick and has a pleasant soapy scent. My hubby likes it too. If my skin is feeling particularly dry, I’ll add a few drops of oil, like the Sunday Riley Juno Oil, to the cream. And, the cream is formulated for combination skin so I never have to worry about a breakout.
I use the Glossier Super Bounce serum (morning) and the Stratia Liquid Gold (night) as hydrating serums before my moisturizer. Some people might find this step unnecessary, but my skin needs all the hydration it can get this time of year.
Glossier Super Bounce Serum. I use this serum in the morning. It has a thin consistency and absorbs within seconds with no stickiness. It has Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 for soft and hydrated skin, and my makeup glides on rather than clinging to any dry patches or fine lines. My only gripe with this product is the size of the bottle…it’s very small, but the price point is not too bad at $28 per bottle.
Stratia Liquid Gold. I LOVE this product. I use it at night under my moisturizer (Emory and I fight over who will use it first). It’s made by a small skincare brand called Stratia Skin (the founder is a fellow beauty blogger), and it’s extremely economical at $24 for a 60mL bottle. It’s called a lightweight moisturizer so it could be used alone, but I like to use it as a serum and layer it under my moisturizer for an extra dose of hydration. Liquid Gold contains ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol in a 1:2:1 ratio, which mimics the skin’s lipid composition. This translates to healing and replenishing for the skin at the exact composition it needs. It’s gold color is due to sea buckthorn, an oil known for its healing properties, but don’t worry, you won’t have a gold face all day. The color dissipates quickly. This product is fragrance-free, non-gimmicky, and dedicated to the science behind skincare. It’s worth a try and has quickly become an essential part of my skincare routine.
Jordan Samuel Etoile Retinol Treatment Oil. Since I’m done with pregnancy and breastfeeding, I wanted to try a retinol treatment for the anti-aging effects. I mean…who doesn’t want younger, glowing skin?! But, I’ve heard all the horror stories about how retinols can be harsh and make your skin peel. So I wanted to start off nice and slow. This retinol oil from Jordan Samuel, another small skincare brand, seemed liked just the ticket for these reasons: it’s an oil and at 0.2% retinol, it’s a relatively small concentration. So it’s gentle and nourishing. My skin is left feeling soft and radiant, not peeling and red like a tomato. Yay! I use it after I’ve washed my face with absolutely no irritation.
